A soggy cornfield off Eighth Avenue near Victoria Avenue in Lincoln became a learning area about how to use nitrogen fertilizer more effectively for a few hours this week.
About 60 local farmers, agriculture industry officials and others were on hand on Thursday morning for the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) event.
“We want to demonstrate that farmers who want to improve their nitrogen management have a lot of options on hand,” said Angela Straathof, director of research and knowledge transfer with the OSCIA, a non-government, non-profit organization that has been educating farmers about soil and crop management and helping them share their knowledge of growing since 1939.
